Union National Mortgage Company is a full-service mortgage banker founded in 1970. With corporate
headquarters located in Strongsville, Ohio, Union National maintains branch offices across the country.
Bill Cosgrove is President/CEO of Union National. Cosgrove’s mortgage banking career spans more than 25
years, beginning in 1985 as a residential loan officer and later becoming the co-founder and minority
shareholder of a leading Cleveland, Ohio mortgage banker. Joining Union National in 1994 with Manfred
Hegwer, President, Cosgrove became the company’s sales manager in 1995. Demonstrating significant
business skills and leadership, Cosgrove was promoted less than one year later to the position of vice
president. With a track record of rapid accomplishments, Cosgrove assumed the role of president of Union
National Mortgage Co. in 1997. As the company continued to grow and thrive, Cosgrove purchased Union
National in 1999 and became its 100 percent stockholder.
In addition to his leadership of Union National, Bill was President of the Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association
(OMBA) in 2006. Bill received special recognition by Governor Strickland regarding his work with SB 185 and
the Ohio Servicing Lenders Compact. In 2006 he was elected to the National Mortgage Bankers Association’s
(MBA) Residential Board of Governors and sits on MBA’s Board of Directors... He is also national chairman of
the MBA Mortgage Political Action Committee (MORPAC).
Cosgrove’s list of honors also includes Crain’s Cleveland Business “40 Under 40” Award in 2000, the Bedford
High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame in 2003, the MBA’s prestigious CMB Award in 2005 and the
OMBA Hodupp Service Award in 2006. His dedication to the partners of Union National and the mortgage
industry is unparalleled. Recently, Union National was named as one of the best lenders for minority groups,
women and low-to-moderate income buyers by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.
